Heather Hancock, the FSA Chair, has announced on behalf of the FSA, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, devolved administrations and Food Standards Scotland, the appointment of Miss Michelle Beer and the re-appointment of Professor Stephen Forsythe, Dr Tim Riley and Professor Wendy Harwood as members of the independent Advisory Committee on Animal Feedingstuffs (ACAF).

The triennial review of scientific advisory committees for which the FSA is lead sponsor (carried out between September and November 2015) concluded that the FSA should merge the functions of Advisory Committee on Novel Food and Processes and ACAF through a consultative process that is completed by December 2017.  Therefore, all the appointments will be for a term lasting up to December 2017 or until the dissolution of the Committee.

Heather Hancock said: ‘The Advisory Committee on Animal Feedingstuffs is one of the independent committees which plays a very important role in providing the FSA, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and devolved administrations with expert advice.  The Committee is extremely fortunate to have members with the enthusiasm and experience of Miss Beer and the reappointed members, I wish them every success in their work.’
